Hello, and welcome to my site.  The purpose of this blog is to create a connection between beaders around the world.   Here and now I extend the invitation to all of you, beadwork artists and appreciators of their work, to join me in my journal, post comments and link to me from their sites.  We already have a common thread.  Let's extend this network so we can share knowledge, inspiration, and The Beader's Muse.

The Participants Have Spoken! I am Proud to Present to You TWO Participant Choice Award Winners!

Congratulations to Kay Ackerman of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania for "Chatoyance" AND to Shannon Rutt of Denver Colorado for "Vintage Layers of LillyPilly!  You'll both be receiving free kits for USE THE MUSE III!

"Chatoyance" by Kay Ackerman of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania

"I knew as this piece began to develop that it would be French. The pearls. The silk. The crystals. The filigree fantasy of the pendant. It suggested a baroque treatment. At some point the word “chatoyance” came into my head. In gemology it refers to a “wavy, luminous band with a silky luster” - a “cat’s eye." The wavy silk band and the lustrous beads in the kit form a ribboned collar that could grace a diva – feline or otherwise. My own cat – Kabuki – had absolutely no interest in this piece but he kept me company throughout." -Kay

"Vintage Layers of LillyPilly" by Shannon Rutt of Denver, Colorado

"My new found passion is the hunt for vintage pieces that I incorporate into my beadwork. This piece started with one vintage pearl button that I attached to the Muse, then layered it onto another Lillypilly shell to give dimension. Plentiful pearls, crystals and vintage drops were lovingly wrapped with silver. They cascade to the centerpiece to create a Victorian lace collar look. The smoky gray pearls compliment my focal piece perfectly, while contrasting topaz jewels pull out the background of the Muse. Finally, hues of blue seed beads polka dot the collar with color. I used the Muse!" -Shannon

Other popular designs that completely surpassed all the others in votes included:

"Oriental Blues in Pale" by Liudmyla Heggland of Rennesoy, Norway

"Inspiration Peace" by Sandy Brock of Castle Rock, Colorado

Thanks for voting me one of the Participant's Choice winners! I'm so honored given the scope and nature of talent! I really enjoyed this contest and am already looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for part III!

Even though I didn't win one of the top two participant awards, I am thrilled to be one of the two runners up! This is the first time I've entered a competition and being selected as one of the top favorites by the participants really makes my day! Thank you to everyone.
